The Kit Cat Klock, a beloved American icon, has a rich history dating back to 1932 when it was first invented in Oregon by designer Earl Arnault. During the Great Depression, the unique pendulum clock with its signature wagging tail, rolling eyes, and contagious smile brought joy and inspiration to many.

In the 1930s, the Allied Clock Company was founded in Portland, Oregon to manufacture these animated clocks. The earliest models had no markings on the back, featuring metal bodies, clock hands, and four-toed paws. As the company embraced plastic molding, they moved production to Seattle, Washington.

The 1940s and 1950s saw a surge in Kit Cat's popularity, with the addition of the top paws and a dapper bow tie to the design. By the 1950s, Kit Cat had become synonymous with the era in America.

In 1962, the company relocated to Southern California and renamed itself the California Clock Company. In 1982, Woody Young, a serial entrepreneur, took over as the President and Owner, ensuring Kit Cat's legacy continued into the new millennium.

However, in the late 1980s, the American-made status of Kit Cat was threatened when the motor manufacturing industry shifted to Asia, leaving the company without a reliable U.S. supplier. Undeterred, the California Clock Company developed a new battery technology to power the exclusive "one-second" animation of the Kit Cat Klock.

The 1990s saw the introduction of Limited Color Edition Kit Cats, including the first 3/4 size Kitty Cat in 1996. In 2001, the iconic Lady Kit Cat joined the lineup, adding pearls and eyelashes to the classic design.

In 2007, Kit Cat celebrated its 75th anniversary with the Great All American Road Show, which included the world's largest Kit Cat Klock at 75 inches tall and a specially painted 75-year-old Ford Deuce. The company continued to mark milestones, with the 80th anniversary in 2012 celebrated with a float in the Pasadena Rose Parade.

Today, after 85 years, Kit Cat Klocks are sold globally, with someone purchasing a new clock every 3 minutes. The Original Size Kit Cat Klock, measuring 15.5 inches from ears to tail, is now available in a Limited Edition Color Gentleman Kit Cat Klock, featuring the iconic rolling eyes, wagging tail, and contagious smile. Proudly made in America by the original manufacturer since 1932, this clock runs on 2 C batteries (not included).
